So Beautiful, Short Sweet and Fun Point and Click. I Love This Era of Point and Clicks

Preliminary: Ahhhh I love the Look of this era of PC games so much enter image description here

Wowwww and the title screen music is so sleepy and amazing.

enter image description hereI am absolutely in love with the in-game music and the Monkey Island II esque vibe so far, I am so happy LeChuck's Revenge has set these precedents and am impressed with Ocean's foray into point and click graphic adventures especially considering how mediocre many of their games have been including the platformer Hook for consoles.

Day 1

Ok ok I'll stop with the screenshots but ahhh enter image description here

You can tell they put in their love to this game, with little touches like him playing the handheld console when you afk for a while, and the details to the setting.

I'm going to have to stop giving 5 stars/favorites to every good point and click graphic adventure in the early 90s, but I suppose there's nothing wrong with doing that for the first ones heh. But things like the way the lighting flickers in here and the all around Look has got me slowing down and just enjoying a game like I haven't for a while. I don't often just sit and look at a screen to enjoy its Look, to take in all the details, etc. Bringing nostalgia and feelings of childhood, fantasy games, core memories, etc. Yay enter image description here

Well sadly my initial absolute excitement is dying a bit as some of the gameplay issues come to the forefront. I wish you could mix text commands with click commands, and also this dialog feature is really sloppy compared to , say, Monkey Island II. Also some of the differentiating between which exit you're using was iffy, tho at least they always label it. Those 2 issues being said, really with the manual the dialog thing wasn't so bad, and the game continues to be fun and great.

Ok I said no more screenshots but enter image description here

The rounded corners of the scenery reminds me of so many childhood favorite games, particularly the Fisher Price Castle and Pirate games. And another great tune in the Lost Boys area. My main debate right now is whether this could warrant a Favorite, since 5 star seems locked in. It may not have the phenomenal power of Monkey Island II, but it has amazing music and a Look that truly makes me zone out, appreciate it, and have intense Feels. Hmmmm. The puzzles/gameplay are a bit odd and without a guide I would not have connected as well with them as, say, Monkey Island II. It's also quite short and innocuous (tho I kinda like that..). So probly best just to call it a 5 star for now and on future replays potentially raise it over time. Ahhhh but the colorful food jsut appeared, one of my favorite aspects of the movie!

Beautiful sky/background during the final "battle" (which was a la the pirates fighting in Monkey Island I) enter image description here

Well shoot that ended abruptly and anticlimactically I wonder if they ran out of space lol can't believe it was on just one floppy disk? No wonder it was so short , but at least the brief ending gave me the chance to get a proper screenshot of the lighting of one of the title screen screens that made me so excited at the start enter image description hereenter image description here

Look: 9.5/10 Brought about nostalgia for an era I love so much, great lighting, could have used more sunset/sunrise backgrounds but other than that, perfection.

Sound: 9.5/10 Consistently interesting throughout, never got annoying despite the repetition at times, every song was good

Play: 9/10 Short, sweet, fun. Could have used a few touches, and more interesting parts from the movie, but great overall. Plus I think most of my "complaints" were just a result of fitting it on one disk, which I personally really appreciate.

Feel: 9.5/10 Likely to be a 10 star some day cuz I did always like this movie. This brought about Feelings of 90s DOS games that only Monkey Island II has done so far.

Attachment: 9/10 I know I will play this again.

Overall: 9.3/10 Considering my only complaints are that it was short and sweet and some of the gameplay felt innocuous or like it missed parts of the movie, I have to recognize this as a Favorite. After all, it fit on just one floppy disk in 1992 and gave me this much Feelings and this much fun, albeit just for a bit of time.
