Repetitive dull gameplay, decent world design

This is my second LightUp mini Metroidvania, and it is… not great. Compared to Prehistoric Dude, there is better map design, level design, and less repetitive gameplay loops. Unfortunately, it fails in almost every other aspect.

First the combat. The normal enemies are SO boring to fight. You just stand still and hold the button, with no challenge. Then the boss fights last about 3 seconds as you spam the bomb button.

Visually, as well as the gameplay/upgrades, it borrows many aspects from Prehistoric Dude. It’s almost just a re-skin. Not much has improved, so again it ends up being just a really mediocre underwhelming Metroidvania.

Can’t recommend, but I enjoyed it just enough to finish 100% (1.5 hours).

isabelp_97's review of Slime's Journey

2.75 - While I did get a little frustrated by getting lost and not really knowing where I had and hadn't been before, they overall play experience was fun! I am always appreciative of games with accessibility settings to allow for a more relaxed, less stressful gaming experience and this game had that. It was short and had a cute little story to go along with it. I loved being able to finish this game in one sitting and even though there isn't a real reason to replay it, I could see myself picking this up again if I wanted a fun, low stakes platformer that won't take up too much time to complete.
