Hey, have you ever played koi-koi? It's a really fun game played with Hanafuda (a deck of japanese flower cards) about matching similar cards together and making sets out of them. So when I saw a someone made a video game out of it, I had no choice but to buy it. And yeah it's a good game I guess.

It does exactly what it sets out to do: It's turns Koi-Koi into an automatic video game experience, and lets you play together with your friends online. It does try to do a few more things, like adding a single player game mode that's incredibly boring, and a different single player game mode that's not as boring. There's also a hana-awase mode that I honestly don't understand at all.
The music is super stereotypically japanese and also very non-intrusive, so you don't notice it half the time. Kudos to the game for getting the card slapping sound right, though.
And as for the visual presentation... there's anime girls. A lot of different anime girls actually. They show up in the menus and in some of the AI enemy pictures, but I don't think they ever speak in the game …

There is not much else to this game, honestly, but I'm not sure that's a bad thing. All the additional things it tries to do fall really flat and are very forgettable. But in the end... It's koi-koi. And koi-koi is a damn good game. And the game is really good at doing fun and responsive koi-koi gameplay.
If you like Hanafuda, and you have a few friends to play hanafuda with, then this is an excellent way to play.
In conclusion: In case you haven't noticed, I'm weird. I'm a weirdo. I don't fit in, and I don't want to fit in. Have you ever seen me play mainstream games? That's weird. 7/10.
