SNES

A Galaxian/Galaga style static shmup where you shoot cute space frogs.

The graphical style and charming characters have some immediate appeal, it's a happy and upbeat game. The gameplay can't get much more classic than with a Galaga clone, but it also features some original powerups, like a spider web that slows enemies on screen. Plus every few levels for some distraction there is a bonus round, with some unique gameplay, which might be a bit reminicient of tapper, for lack of a better comparison. All of this is well made and the controls leave little to be desired.

If you want to complain about anything, this is a very simple game by 16 bit standards, with slightly redundant levels, but you should know what you are looking at with a Galaga style game, so that's not a real complaint. Also it's a bit on the easy side, which can for fans of shmups be a problem, however, it should be welcome by newcomers to the genre.

All in all it's a cute and very likable little game, that should be a lot of fun for the short time it takes to shoot through it, and a good …

Beat on normal. I found the game to be too simple, silly and short; only took about an hour to beat. This game is highly lacking in all respects when compared to a generic side scrolling or top down shooter, though a large part of that is due to the "space invaders" genre itself. Standard gameplay was passably enjoyable though I greatly disliked the bonus level gameplay.
