This task is made more difficult by the aliens which constantly swarm out from the portals on both sides of the screen. Back in the late 80s/early 90s, computer games were a basic affair. I don't know the genesis of Crystal Quest, I just know that it was one of those computer games that I had access to as a kid with some of our early Mac computers. The graphics were black and white, the sounds effects canned, and the mouse controls loosy-goosy. But I sunk a lot of my time as a kid into simple computer games, and this is one I enjoyed.

The Xbox Arcade re-do puts a nice paint gloss over the classic game, adds some extra modes, and is generally speaking a lovely take on the old Crystal Quest. But even better, it comes with the classic Crystal Quest, so I can fully dive back into nostalgia without any sort of pesky "modern" features like "color" or "easier difficulties" and whatnot.

Certainly not a game to entice modern gamers, but for those of us pining for good ol' days, this is pretty awesome.
