Yeah, this is my jam. After sampling and tossing about 10 other games in the genre, I finally struck gold. Final Cut is the debut game in the series by Eipix Games (who’s gone on to make an ungodly amount of games, as do all HOPA developers). But this is in the golden early years when they had something to prove, and that is what they did.

The game takes place in your father’s large mansion. You basically are playing a Resident Evil type puzzle game - slowly working your way through the mansion, backtracking and unlocking doors while solving puzzles. If you like Lorelei and the Laser Eyes or the Tartarus Key, this is a great game to check out in this niche genre.

The art is great, each scene feels hand painted and unique (including the hidden object mini games). There’s even some great FMV acting without feeling janky, it’s just all so well executed. This is an easy recommendation as an entry point to the genre, and shows how sometimes amidst the over saturated fluff there’s actually some quality games to be found.
