Decent Semi-Graphic Text Adventure With RPG Elements
This review is for the ZX Spectrum version

Look: 7/10 I really wasn't sure what to think of this at first--the drawing is slow (it is the Spectrum after all, blergh) and while I liked the colors, the occasional images just weren't worth the wait. At least they seemed to recognize that and not have a graphic for every room.

Play: 7/10 Your usual text adventure. I like that it's a treasure hunt that you can check the score for periodically. I wasn't gonna review this cuz I had read there are random elements to the game. Very advanced parser for its day, and terse descriptions. Also some nice surprises with humor, it's been a while--text adventures got so serious in '81 and '82 heh. Tho the battle system isn't bad, it's a bit too tedious (like a lot of early CRPGs) and not rewarding enough to be fun. Especially when you die (sure, I saved, but wasn't motivated to keep playing after the first battle). Cool ideas, good execution, but not really my type of text adventure.

Feel: 7/10 It has some truly RPG elements: you pick a class, have stats that you can increase, and fight enemies during your adventure. But it's still just a classic text adventure at heart, more along the lines of Zork than I usually like :-p Tho the images weren't remarkable, they also weren't bad. And the Spectrum colors are used better here than most the Spectrum games I've played. Cool setting, cool concept, and good execution.

Attachment: 6/10 Even tho this is a memorable concept, it certainly isn't the first to do it. Nor the best. So, tho it was truly good, and I definitely recommend it for y'all who like Zork and text adventures with RPG elements, I doubt I will be returning to it. Maybe just to get 100% completion I might.

Completion: 130/600 Score, Died At Golem Playtime: ~ 30 mins
