2.5 stars for my second least favorite Spyro game (so far)
This review is for the PlayStation 2 version

Without cheats, I think I would have given up on this game.

I had a glitch during the entire game, where I couldn't re-select Fire or Poison Breath without exiting the level. That made completing certain tasks incredibly difficult and frustrating. (Plus, after collecting everything, I reached 99/100 and just gave up).

With infinite Mana, Life, and Experience, the game was playable. I'm not good with combos, and without cheat codes, I would have had to rely on those when fighting enemies - and start over a thousand times, I'm sure. Plus, defeating certain foes would have been downright impossible before coming back to those scenes after completing the entire game (looking at you, Elite Enemies).

The controls were frustrating, forcing certain angles, making it virtually impossible to look around freely. Certain flight scenes were really tough to control due to said problem.

The story was good, the puzzles occasionally so tricky I needed to look up advice online, and I kind of liked the element of having two dragons and needing to work around the "chain" between them to get through the levels. Also, I liked the music score.

The visuals left a lot to be desired, the animation quality and the lack of flexibility in maneuverability really hindering the process of findings hidden things, requiring several play-throughs of certain levels to find all of them hidden goodies.

Overall okay, but one of my least favorite Spyro games so far. I assume after you get the hang of it, the game will be enjoyable, but I personally found it way too hard without an additional boost from cheats.
