This review is for the ACA NEOGEO PUZZLE BOBBLE 2 - Nintendo Switch - United States (2019) release

you are now king Quarter fed this and beat both modes in an hour or so after bearing Turok. Love these games!

I also really enjoyed this on my new low latency OLED tv on the switch and am getting worried that my CRT setup that I've so painstakingly put together is about to become absolete 😂

This also marks my 30th game completed in 2023! A goal I half assedly set for myself last month.

I can't really compare this to any other puzzle bobble games as Ive never played them through, but on it's own this rules.

Preliminary: Needless to say, from my extensive experience with the first Puzzle Bobble/Bust A Move, I rocked these first few stages. Getting one in one move and another in two moves etc. I do love these games a lot. The backgrounds are cute and more elaborate etc, and the music is more complex, and it's cool having the levels in that level select type screen. But nothing quite hits as amazingly as that first Puzzle Bobble. The pacing of the tunes slowing and speeding based on proximity is still a nice touch. And the tunes are good as usual tho I miss the original tune. I like the addition of the cute voice reactions tho.

I both like and dislike the addition of new kinds of spheres, like the clear ones you have to drop. I like that I am good enough at the game to do that but I don't love the added complexity when I liked the straightforward fun of the orgiinal.

The backgroudns are neat but oddly sulky and don't really match the vibe lol. This dimly lit coastal town. K. But yay the original tune!

Day 1

The difficutly definitely seems to rise much faster than int he original. And I'm not loving some of the level designs. But it's still good ol Bust A Move. And great tunes.

Day 2

Yeaaaa unfortunately the difficulty level and lack of "easing in" makes this not nearly as fun as the original. I can't imagine showing this to a friend expecting them to enjoy this except for the player vs player, which already was possible with the first one. So I will give credit …

I can't imagine showing this to a friend expecting them to enjoy this except for the player vs player, which already was possible with the first one. So I will give credit for its good music, odd but good Look, and good ol Puzzle Bobble. But no way I'm playing through all those levels if it's already this difficult in early game.

Look: 8/10

Sound: 8.5/10 Always great with Puzzle Bobbles!

Play: 7/10 Disappointing tbh

Feel: 7.5/10

Attachment: 7/10 I'll stick with the first one, and luckily that's the one I have access to on the arcade cabinet!

Overall: 7.6/10
