This game is absolute perfection. It has been a dry year for Metroid hacks, but this Super Metroid hack is easily either my favorite or second favorite Metroid hack of all time (alongside Subversion).

First - the art. All of the art assets are original and everything is reimagined. The save rooms are healing ponds, the bosses are nightmarish creatures or children driving mech suits, the map station is an archeological groundhog. The whole game is just gorgeous and surreal, with a dark Fusion-like tone.

The gameplay is also reinvented. There are a couple completely new abilities, and every standard one is tweaked and made slightly anew. The level design is perfect - so fun to explore and it has one of the greatest maps I’ve seen in any Metroid game.

Overall, this might be my top recommendation for anyone looking to try a Metroid hack. It completely reinvents the wheel while still feeling like a mainline game. It really did blow me away - go try it.
