There are only two constants in Abyss Odyssey: a great evil awaits at the bottom of the pit, and you must succeed or die. From indie Chilean developer ACE Team comes a new side-scrolling action adventure game featuring a complex fighting engine in procedurally generated levels that destines its three warriors to battle for an eternity. Enter the bold Katrien, the tortured specter Ghost Monk, and the ethereal Pincoya. Use the characters to perform combos, chaining attacks and releasing a flurry of blows in order to survive what lies beneath. Your path into the unknown may start out with three fierce warriors, but when you learn to possess your enemies, you can challenge the abyss with their skills and combat abilities. Each foe is as technically complex as the main warriors, so use all the options available to you and attempt to figure out the infinite abyss. Read less

Anyone have thoughts on this game? The PS4 Extended Dream Edition is currently half price in the PlayStation Store.

Nice art style, though just manic button bashing. Could tell where my character was when there's five or six characters all jumping around and fighting at once. Especially when on-line characters can be the same character as you.

I can see myself enjoying this multiplayer, but the single-player just isn't for me. I can see myself enjoying this multiplayer, but the single-player just isn't for me. Having to start the game over every time you die to just play more procedurally generated levels just isn't my thing. I was also disappointed that you lose all your gear when you die as far as I can tell, so it's not like you can even just cruise through the levels to get back to where you where.

That being said, the game is gorgeous to watch, it controls pretty well and the fighting mechanics are very fun in a Street Fighter kinda way. I imagine if you continued to unlock different special attacks and really practiced the combo the fights could become really fun. The music had a kinda low rent Trans-Siberian Orchestra feel to it, which might not be a good thing.

Will definitely re-review once I have a chance to try it out with another person.
