Isometric Bird-Souls

Featherfall is an isometric Dark Souls-inspired RPG, developed by Sokpop. It's a small game (maybe 3 or 4 hours for full playthrough first time), and it harnesses most of the key elements of the genre, boiling them down into this cute little eerie title.

There are a few small examples of devs trying to do the souls experience from this isometric view, but none of them have really pulled it off until this title. All of the key components are here: a large world to explore full of secrets, shortcuts, treasure and bosses. There's a lot of content here, and I really loved the mysterious atmosphere, accentuated by the soundtrack and sound design. Was fun to map this whole world out in my head and encounter all the various bosses and areas and surprises along the way. More than anything, this Featherfall is a really good proof-of-concept; I can imagine something like this being fleshed out into a giant fancy game, like some weird combination between Diablo and Dark Souls. It's fantastic stuff. Looking forward to my 2nd plathrough because I definitely missed some of the optional bosses.
