An old school 2D platformer that didn’t really win me over.

Visually it’s pretty (again) old school. The pixel art is quite bold and I wouldn’t call it pretty. I did get used to it eventually but the game is definitely not a looker. Sound design was also forgettable.

Under the hood it’s a very classic 2D platformer with the only twist of being able to switch into one of the four characters available. Each comes with an individual skill, so there’s one with double jump, one with dash, one with glide and one with hook line. And at first I was pretty excited counting for something along the lines of Lost Vikings but it’s not. I was mostly able to beat the levels with only two characters - though the one with the double jump I used for 80% of the time - shame.

I have no idea what the story is about. You’re on some spaceship flying to planets and doing something. The way the missions are relayed is through a “computer” screen with green text on slightly darker green background. I’m not reading that. I have no idea what the story is about. You’re on some spaceship flying to planets and doing something. The way the missions are relayed is through a “computer” screen with green text on slightly darker green background. I’m not reading that. Went to the first planet - it consisted of 5 levels plus final boss fight. The first levels were too easy though the later proved some challenges including the quite interesting boss fight.

What’s bad about the game is it’s controls. They’re just not good enough. Although they feel responsive they also feel a bit off. I’ve got killed way too many times because of them. The double jump is fine but the wall jump or the hook swing are really not. And it just adds a level of difficulty (or irritation) that is just not necessary.

Another thing this game lacks is a solid structure. While the first world was nice and linear once you finish it you return to your ship and have no idea where to go. Some planets offer an unfunny cut scene I didn’t bother to read, others provide some kind of races which were quite skippable and I had trouble finding another planet with levels - though some advertised as free downloadable DLC and I wasn’t going to click that.

Overall I did find the second world but at this point I had enough of it and did not found a reason to go on. Not a bad game entirely but just didn’t catch my attention.
