I haven’t had a proper arcade near me in at least 16 years, but was able to pop into one of the Round 1 arcade chain recently while out of town. I mostly went to play shmups (none of my favorites unfortunately but a few I’m cool with), but they had a surprisingly robust selection of imported Japanese-language rhythm games including pretty new ones like this 2024 Konami release. I tried it out for a while, and I guess this is a successful and long-running series, but I found the guitar controller and UI a lot less nice than Rock Band. Maybe a hard thing to get right or maybe some prefer it like this. Oh well, still decent fun and nice to play in the arcade environment for once, especially seeing unexpected niche stuff like this in the US.
