I love this crew so much, but I’m really worried I’m fucking Sai up. Everything I do just seems to force her more inward and insular. I hate it and I don’t know if I could have done something different from the start to prevent this.

But that’s life, isn’t it? We try our best be we still fuck up …

But that’s life, isn’t it? We try our best be we still fuck up and hurt people even when we are trying our best to help them.

Fun useless fact: the voice artist that plays Leo in this also plays ND-5 in Star Wars: Outlaws. This is not important at all, but I like his performance in both and I happened to have picked up both games at the same time.

This game hits way too hard. Brings up feelings of regret about ways I wasn’t always particularly that nice to my younger brother when we were kids. Why are kids so shitty to each other?

Got to be honest, not seeing a lot of reason to hate on the combat system. Maybe some of the haters just need to git gud 😉

The writers of this game think that s’mores are made with salted crackers. Someone needs to tell the Norwegians that’s not correct 😂

I’m with the 72% of people on Steam that rated Dustborn positively. It seems pretty alright to me so far.

So after all the hubbub around this game, I got intrigued and decided to try the demo.

And I was really into everything I experienced, until the demo's combat section. Ooof that was bad... from the controls to the barks, to the random gen-z power-ups (Blocked? Triggered? really?)

Up until that part I liked the characters and dialogue, and was actually curious to see more of the story, but the combat just killed it for me... I think I'd rather it was turn-based - feels much more appropriate for a game like this.

Peasants & farmers

When the funding and production of a game is made solely on a "woke" idea written on a napkin, it results in uncanny and anomalous experience that cannot be saved by its playful visuals. Dustborn is a lower-class game for peasants and farmers

Bad trip

I wish I liked Dustborn more than I did. I really liked the story about a road trip to escape a fascist United Stated and loved the characters... but the gameplay is not good.

This is an adventure game in the line of Life is Strange or Telltale games, but with an absolutely awful combat system and some boring rhythm games. The PS5 version performance is really bad, has glitches all over the place and the voice acting is really bad in some places.

If the story seem interesting to you, maybe this 15 hours travel could be worth it... maybe. I'm brute forcing my way through it because this are the kind of plot and characters I like, but its rough sometimes.

Here's my full review in spanish.

I really wanted this to be better.
