Do you ever play a game you just know you're going to be playing for the rest of your life?
Bits & Bops is that game for me. It's just pure joy and the backdrop of it taking place in an arcade, complete with patrons and everything, just make it so cozy. Playing this game feels like visiting a third space.
I enjoyed every minigame but if I had to pick a Top 4, I'd pick (in no particular order) Octeaparty, Molecano, Flipper Snapper, and Pop Up Kitchen. I say no particular order but Octeaparty is 100% my current favorite, the music and the actions and the dude who absolutely loves his tea sweet make for such a fun experience.
The mixtapes are also freaking awesome! Really, the entire thing is a seratonin machine. I'm obsessed with it and I desperately want more. New mixtapes as DLC, a sequel even, and most especially merch! I pray to the rhythm game gods this game gets big enough to warrant such things.
The Sushi level might be one of the best levels ever in a rhythm game. What a crazy joy.
I've been playing Bits & Bops every weekend because something big is happening in my life in 8 weeks, and since this game has 16 levels and I started 16 weeks ago, it seemed perfect. And it turned out, it was! This game is such a joy, it's brightened every weekend, and the gifts you get after every level really add a welcome feeling of progression.

Sure, this is a beat-for-beat rehash of Rhythm Heaven. And sure, it's got no new ideas outside getting frisky with the syncopation sometimes. But there hasn't been a new Rhythm Heaven in over a decade, and Bits & Bops nails the formula!
Every minigame is unspeakably cute, bobbing along to the beat is super fun, and the backing soundtrack is solid if unexciting. Especially loved playing as an octopus using all eight of its arms to brew, pour, and serve tea.
