It is a good idea and you can tell they're trying but there is too much downtime while you wait for the game to do things (since you can't actually do anything else while you're developing a game), and I feel like it's just a little lightweight.
I also found that the reviews made no sense. The depth is all out of whack here because certain genres aren't known for certain things and yet you get penalized for it. My racing game didn't have a great story? Oh no! There are other things like that and it takes me out of it. I can't get immersed when it doesn't make much sense.
