The cut down streamlined approach to rogue like is kind of nice. When I was playing stone soup crawl i often try to do things quickly and pick classes that play more clicky clicky diablo style. Room tactics are kept simple due to the small room sizes for an iphone scren. This is a good recipe in general for games of it's ilk, unfortunately there just isn't that much here. This is a very minimal game and clearing floors of monsters to find the same kind of gear, or getting the same kind of bonuses each floor you clear is only of interest for so long. Still, the game has a great balance and for a free game it's nice. The pets dynamic is... interesting if not a bit short lived due to creature deaths. The aspect of managing a creature (or rather relying on them) for anything is foolish partly due to the fact they don't heal over time, and have a small HP pool, don't seem to level (they don't live long enough) and the small playing grid which makes it all but impossible to manage creatures, especially more than one. This small grid also puts ranged units …

This small grid also puts ranged units whether they are archers or casters at a grave disadvantage. This is a game that has flaws of being a bit too simple and anything added on top is going to break the premise of keeping it simple :/
the paladin (free class) seems alright. good defense and good in melee. it does best because it keeps things simple. i managed to survive to level 8 with this one, the rest didnt last more than a few minutes, and i dont think i could ever get to level 8 with any ranged or caster character in this game (most are) as it just doesnt seem suited for anything other than the paladin. hard to imagine what the paid for version of the game adds with more classes, to justify it has to be OP.
The free version was free and it was fun for an hour so well uh, thank you, slashware. I couldnt pass up a rogue in my browser. Also you guys do great pixel art.
