This game sells itself as a a card-based RPG adventure, and technically it checks all those boxes. Flip cards to explore. Reveal cards to use weapons and spells. Toss cards out of the game after you use them up. The problem is that this game fails to translate the experience of tabletop RPGs into this card-based format. It just doesn't feel like an adventure, because you will be doing the same things turn after turn, just with slightly different cards. It doesn't feel tactical or flexible like a tabletop RPG, because only a few specific strategies will work and cards don't really have any synergy or hidden strategies to them. Its too straightforward and boring. Even the characters and the writing feel tired and derivative (despite the fact that the characters and world setting have been around for years). Two stars because This game was not a total mess. The art and music was nostalgic for me. It reminded me of college, when I still had the time and the social circles to play D&D for hours. Too bad this couldn't fully bring me back there.
I played Pathfinder for about an hour and a half and managed to finish the first campaign scenario (after initial defeat in the first try). It's a nice game tough it certainly have a board game feeling and clunky controls of a ported one. Give that I don't really see a place for playing such a game on PC. It's also based in a shop-based metagame, where you should probably grind some scenarios a little to have cash to buy better gear for your party.
I think it might be good for online play with friends, but it has very intimidating (text-heavy) tutorial so in case of many "casual" friends it's gonna be a dealbreaker. Given that you might as well play something more serious online with those that are cool with a bit of complexity.
Overall, I won't be returning here, although the experience was not unpleasant. Just don't have time for it..
Tried this for a bit. It seems pretty good with a lot of options, as card games go.
The thing that's a turn-off for me, like all these sorts of games, is that I feel like I'm just solving a math equation when playing.
