How do you improve upon a game that oozes fun from every pore? The creators of the original Earth Defense Force (Monster Attack) return to add more of that same old alien killing goodness. But why fix what's not broken?
The developers realize this, and the original doesn't have the highest variety of missions and challenges. Instead of repeating challenges and different modes ad nauseum, the game contains a staggering 71 main missions that carry oodles of new enemies, weapons, and areas. The addition of a new character type, the Pale Wing, ups the ante even further with some desperately needed jetpacking and laser/plasma weaponry that helps to stand out amongst the infantry.
The game has all the enemies of the previous game, along with deadly spiders, giant deadly spiders, a boss UFO, a bigger boss UFO, giant centipedes made up of plenty of segments, War Of the Worlds inspired tanks of varying leg heights, Mechagodzilla (I mean Cyborg Saurus) and everywhere in between. Some of the challenges (since it feels they made every combination of enemy and area to fight them in) are incredibly difficult and at times frustrating, but the coop is a welcome alleviation of those worries. …

Global Defence Force places a high bar for the rest of the series to follow; any disappointment here on out is understandable, given the sheer amount of solid content placed in this game.
