I'll be transparent that I didn't finish "The Sign", for reasons that heavily cut my rating. There's some really good stuff in this game, but unfortunately I can't recommend it as it stands.
Good and bad in a nutshell: There's some wonderfully creepy work in the story, which has the good sense to poke fun at itself for the heavy inspiration it takes from "The Ring", and there's also some excellent visuals. Some of the jump scares may be cheap, but they're still quite effective. I'll also give props to the developers for offering an option to skip puzzles entirely if you wanted to focus on story progression. On the weaker side are dialogue options (there were numerous places where I felt common sense options were missing) and, arguably, the size of the cast. That's one where I want to tread lightly on criticism since I didn't complete, but at least at the time I quit, it felt as though some characters were very underdeveloped while others were involved in interpersonal dramas that took too much time away from the main storyline for me. I appreciate the attempt to flesh out the main character with friends, family, and other dramatis …

I appreciate the attempt to flesh out the main character with friends, family, and other dramatis personae, but with 10-14 characters in one group chat, I wonder if streamlining the cast might not have been wise.
Unfortunately, at the halfway point I ran into a game-breaking bug. I tried reinstalling the app to fix it, and that's how I found out the game is manual save only. That's my fault for not verifying first, and I was invested enough that I was prepared to restart. But the game also refused to recognize the pass I'd purchased. With game progress regularly bottlenecked by increasingly tedious puzzles, no skip pass, and no guarantee that bug wouldn't recur, I reluctantly decided there are better uses of my time.
