In Jaws: Unleashed, the player assumes the role as the large shark Jaws. The shark first enters the island from the southern end and the player finds itself in a cove. The cove has tutorials to allow the player to become familiar with the controls, such as the ones for moving the shark and attacking other creatures. The shark has a menu for upgrades as well. These can be accessed from either the main menu or the pause menu. Wild, brutal and violent.
This review is for the PlayStation 2 version

If you wanted an open world with a shark that can attack people and animals, break things and make everyone panic, that's what the game offers, and it does it very well. The graphics are amazing, the controls are great and the action is brutal. If you like blood, violence, sharks and the ocean, it's an amazing game. If you're sensible to people shouting and gore, maybe it's not a game for you. The game offers a catalog of the many animals you can encounter along the way, being extremely rich about the species. It's a beautiful experience to swim under the sea in a vast open world map. The story however, is short and superficial, the main focus of the game is...to bite and break things and scare people basically, and honestly, I couldn't expect anything different. I had a lot of fun playing it, it was a very different, interesting experience to play as a shark under the sea, it's a very original game. If I had to make this game better, I would add more maps, more story events and different playable sharks.

Been playing this before bed and really enjoying it! I'd go as far as saying it's better than Maneater, which I believe is a spiritual successor? The water physics and visuals are so good for 2006!

jaws unleashed title screen showing the jaws logo and menu options with the background being a body of water with a shark swimming around.

I appreciate the native wide screen support! And the extras section is neat too, there's bios for the fish in the game AND there's a section for movie clips so you can re watch some of the best moments! Love stuff like this in movie tie in games.

A clip from the Jaws film, found in the extras menu

You take the role of the titular jaws, wreak havoc and munch on people/animals/helicopters. Pretty good for licensed title. Camera is pretty bad. Was going to compare to ecco games without realising it's actually the same Devs. 3/5
