A treasure turns into a terror in SpongeBob Squarepants: Revenge of the Flying Dutchman. While cruising through Bikini Bottom, SpongeBob discovers several treasure chests. Ignoring the warning signs, SpongeBob opens the chests, only to discover he has released the Flying Dutchman--an angry ghost that now wants to make SpongeBob and his friends part of his crew. As you help SpongeBob stop the Dutchman from wreaking havoc in Bikini Bottom, you change costumes, collect gold coins, and interact with all your favorite characters from the TV show.

Surviving Depression.
This review is for the PlayStation 2 version

This is gonna be a long read so ARE YOU READY KIDS. (bad joke I know)

A small dose of depression coupled with a burnout from Video Games can really lead to bad, very F'n bad times. So you sometimes just want to do the unusual to pass the hard bumps.

No interest in Big AAA games, no interest in Online FPS's, making my own fun out of something you're tired from can be quite the challenge.

This game was sitting aside for I don't know how long since I last played it, so I decided to boot the game cause I didn't have anything else to do or to think of doing. guess what? the save file I had for this game was corrupted, lol.

Started a new game, and this game is already with a lot problems. the camera is really atrocious, but I kept randomly playing anyway. the animation for some reason was kind of awful, but It was fun looking at it. I laughed so hard when I saw Squidward's walking animation. screwing randomly in bikini Bottom was... Fun.

Started a new game, and this game is already with a lot problems. the camera is really atrocious, but I kept randomly playing anyway. the animation for some reason was kind of awful, but It was fun looking at it. I laughed so hard when I saw Squidward's walking animation. screwing randomly in bikini Bottom was... Fun.

Next day I booted the game and spent a little bit of my time watching the main menu watching Mr.K and Squidward chatting. I don't know why, but I felt comfortable just chilling there for a while. moving on and I never realized how easy Downtown Bikini Bottom can be with the Delivery missions. for the first time every I noticed that there are signs to help you navigate. Spent 2 days screwing around gathered all the coins only to realize I have to come back with the Reef Blower (something I didn't know before).

Sandy's treedom level was way too easy. managed to 100% it in less than an hour.

Jellyfish field turned out to be way too easy as well, but I hated how the level was designed, colors and such, it was awful, however I didn't feel any motion sickness I used to have while playing this level, and had fun with some of the Jellyfish rides.

what kept me going up to this point was just how silly the game look's, Animation, Facial expressions, this game is trash in term of design and I'm enjoying it.

The other good news while still playing through Chum world, It was quite a decent experience. I didn't get motion sickness or any of this. I was still bugged with the level design and I wanted to finish it quickly. and So it was, until I was stuck on the last letter and decided to check what was last, which was Goo Lagoon.

Larry the freakin' Lobster had a really bad Facial expression in this and I couldn't not laugh, even worse was his animation. Larry was a Highlight for me in this game and can't stress this enough. the NO RUNNING ON TA BEATCH level turned out to be quite fun. Just hunting Larry alone was good enough for me. Easily 100%ed, gone back and got the letter from Plankton, and finally ready for the Dutchman.

Look what a BOOTY does to a MF'er. lol

In all seriousness though, this was a stupidly fun level with a good balance of Platform and Puzzles. it was amazing, and despite the silly writing for a 10 year old in this level, I laughed a few times, and I absolutely loved when Spongebob had enough of the pirates's BS and stood up for himself.

Going in and finally facing the Dutchman, It was a quite weak fight TBH. Maybe I expected more, but it was serviceable. It did the job.

Credits. Then go back the main menu.

It took me 2 weeks to get through this game, and somehow It didn't crash, corrupt, or F'ed around at all. It's like the game was giving me a break and allowing me to heal or something. I'm really happy with how this game turned it for me. It was fun and dump the best way possible. It has a lot of problems, but Ironically that's what made the game better for me.

Don't underestimate simple or even the stupidest game you have in your collection. It might help you more than you think.

This review is for the Nintendo GameCube version

Flying Dutchman's low quality control, simple obstacles, and busy-work collectables combine with show-quality dialogue and healthy pacing to make for a bite-sized but bland distraction.

The amount of worlds is limited, only four that are fleshed out enough to be considered the body of the game. These and the smaller worlds are, however, broken up frequently enough into sublevels or linear challenges that it never feels like a grind. Those simple obstacles also carry more variety than contemporary bargain titles. Add in a surprising dose of non-linearity both inside of the levels and the game's progression. I counted twice where attentive players could go out of order through the game's short story.

The set-up is thoughtful, with no follow through. The costume gimmick is not utilized. You spend 90% of your time in the first costume, responsible for one-half of the collectables and for overriding all of the level music with a singe, non-offensive jellyfishing tune. Said collectables are strewn about without much care, unnoticeable until the story progression makes one permanently unattainable.

The platforming and exploring never reaches a stride, blurring intended challenges with general a-to-b navigation.

The game is not broken nor incomplete. It's length and pacing means …

Out of all the games I own, This freakin' game is the one that helped me through my gaming burnout and semi depression I had in the past month or so.

it's still quiet fun and decent enough despite the flaws, and No, I don't have Nostalgia with this game.

One of the first Spongebob games I've play.

❶ Favorite character...noone in particular. I love the OG spongebob though and maybe lowkey a huge fan of the spongebob squarepants show~

❷ MEMORABLE --> JELLYFISH MINIGAME, DANCING...SUCKED AS A KID. Though, it was a great visual.

❸ Puzzle & Platforming...it was quite something. Wasn't amazing, but bad. Took up a big chunk of time though.
