Revival Xanadu is a remake of Xanadu: Dragon Slayer II. The remake distinguishes itself with the more detailed, graphically more advanced character portraits and backgrounds in the various places of interest (inns, temples, shops, etc.). Player and enemy sprites are also drawn in a noticeably more detailed way and have a higher resolution. However, the side-scrolling exploration environments retain the original look, with "retro" graphics reminiscent of the older original game. For the most part, the location layout in this remake are the same as in the original version, and the gameplay remains largely unchanged as well.

I will do a longer write up when I'm finished, but I have sunk 10 hours into this already and can easily see myself spending much more time on it. This kind of game probably only appeals to a very specific subset of people, but it certainly is more than just a novelty to play for an hour and then drop. Really pleased with the purchase.

I'm almost certainly a moron for even considering trying out this game and thinking I'll be able to enjoy it in the year 2025, but dammit I've been watching a lot of Basement Brothers recently and it's 7 bucks on eShop. I figure if I get an hour's worth of enjoyment out of this then it'll have been worth the money.
