Robby Roto is a game that Bally/Midway originally released on its Astrocade-based hardware back in 1981. Other games that ran on this hardware include Gorf, Wizard of Wor, and Professor Pac-Man. The author of Robby Roto is Jamie Fenton, who acquired the rights to the game after it did not do well in the marketplace.

Severely Underrated Arcade Gem - Play This!

Look: 9/10 I love the Paint vibes title screen, well the whole thing feels like MS Paint. And I love it. Digging away at it, the twilight-esque color tones, the graphic of the bird that carries you back to the start. Love the look.

Sound: 8/10 Tho I can't claim to have gotten lost in the music or emotionally resonate with the music like with Phoenix's soundtrack, I did love the sounds: it ends up being like a progressive electronic song with all the sound effects and "music" intertwined lol

Play: 9/10 That was a lot of fun! very addictive to try to get further. Thank goodness for the "Magic Roto" button, using that can be a lifesaver. I loved challenging myself to try to save all 3 miners in one trip, and other self-limitations/self-challenges. A sign of a great game when I do that! Oh, and the controls are responsive. Gotta love arcade games from this era.

Feel: 9/10 Fun, simple, innovative, love the graphics, love the setting and dim underground "mood," such a unique game. I don't think I ever knew games like this, with these sort of "indie" feeling graphics, existed on arcade machines. And the ultimate …

Feel: 9/10 Fun, simple, innovative, love the graphics, love the setting and dim underground "mood," such a unique game. I don't think I ever knew games like this, with these sort of "indie" feeling graphics, existed on arcade machines. And the ultimate good feeling source: I actually got really good at it ha. Without the use of a novice difficulty level or anything. It allows for self-challenges to increase the difficulty, instead of a setting. And I actually went for some of those self-challenges, which is rare for a casual inept gamer like myself ha. I can't say enough good things about this game!

Attachment: 9/10 I already replayed it for fun and got further than ever! And I replayed it again to show it to my younger brother! That's a sign of a new favorite heh.
