Sólido y con una propuesta fresca, un interesante juego de puzzles que se sirve de una revisión del clásico tiempo bala para ofrecer un desafío asequible. Estética simple pero con impacto.
I think my biggest complaint that I have with Children of the Sun is that I can't rebind the controls. It's annoying because my middle mouse button doesn't work. That's about it.
I learned about this game from a little email from Steam telling me that this game had come out. Somewhat like Katana Zero from a few years ago, I didn't expect this to be one of my favorite games of the year.
In this game, you play as a young lady who is out for blood against a cult that ruined her life. She was late to the bullet store and only got 26 bullets (one for each level) and decided to make them work.
In each level, you fire one shot, and use that bullet to kill upwards of 14 dudes. That's basically the entire game. And it rocks.
This game doesn't do a lot of stuff, but the things it does, it absolutely nails.
A very short, awesomely fun game.
Children of the Sun is a short game, but a short game executed masterfully. This mixture of puzzle and sniping action drips with an impeccable style and encourages lots of replayability.
A mysterious individual called THE GIRL is waging a war of vengeance against a dark and insidious cult - in her favor is a psychic power that allows her to control the path of her bullet to dispatch multiple foes in a single shot.
The actual pace for this single shot starts out rather slow, like a puzzle (or the similarly amazing game SUPERHOT). Time slows down to a crawl when the first shot is fired, and upon hitting a target (either a cultist or other environmental bits such as explosives or birds) the bullet can freely change direction to the next target. Later in the game the player can aim the bullet for weak points to charge up midair re-aims, curve the bullet's trajectory, and speed up for powershots.
While the game starts off very easy at first, figuring out where targets are and how to hit them can be quite the puzzle. The game allows marking enemies that remain after repeated tries, making it very handy for …

While the game starts off very easy at first, figuring out where targets are and how to hit them can be quite the puzzle. The game allows marking enemies that remain after repeated tries, making it very handy for pathing out the perfect shot. Enemies are mostly regular goons hidden throughout the scene but some (armored enemies requiring a powershot, psychic enemies that push the bullet out of the way) require much more careful shooting. After that the player can also push for a higher score, with distance, time, and places hit all factoring into a better performance. The global leaderboards are already very bloated but it's addicting to apply past lessons and knowledge to previous levels and sharpen that score.
Story and style help this fantastic concept shine further. The dark and gorgeously lit neo noir landscape is glorious to behold, evoking media like God is a Bullet and Too Old to Die Young as violently intense audio mixes with gorgeous pinks and purples. It's a perfect match to an intense struggle with cult repression and breaking out of that cycle.
Children of the Sun only lasts a few hours if you're playing through front to back, but if you like high scores, challenges, and a unique horde mode waiting at the end this game will provide a lot more. Dark, delicious, and super replayable.
I needed a short game with relatively simple mechanics after playing so many meaty games lately and this one delivered. Cool mechanic and well executed.
A satisfying, stylish puzzle shooter game. The puzzles can be figured out as you go instead of having a complete plan before I even fire a bullet which keeps things from getting to frustrating while making me feel clever. The story is about a girl taking revenge on a cult she was raised in. It's told with no dialogue using cool animations in between levels for cutscenes. The material is dark and graphic, but the story mostly serviceable. The game makes cool use of music. I really dug the bass strum that plays when I move the character.
Really neat idea, and the game does about everything it can with it, throwing a few twists here and there. The game also had the right amount of replayability and length to it to keep me coming back to it. The game atmosphere and story is a little edgy, yes, but I like this style of edgy revenge story. While I do like the game, it has one of the worst minigames I have ever played due to some bad controls, but it is only one very short level, thankfully.
The game is a really good fit for the steamdeck. I think the portable PC works really well with this kind of mission based games. Also, the game goes to my DNF because I haven't yet beaten the last level. Replaying it all from the beginning each time is a bit daunting, especially with a small element of chance involved, to keep it spoiler free.

A fun but confusing at times game. I'm not good at puzzle games but this one was pretty good. It's definitely not a shooter though. This is like a bath salts, killer, supernatural being, epilepsy simulator that will overload your senses (especially your ears). Definitely recommend. The only reason why I don't give it a fifth star is because I'm just not into puzzle games

Devolver Digital just announced this game today, but I was able to check a preview last week and it is very interesting. Anyway, there's already a demo up in Steam if you wanna check it out.
I was also able to interview the solo dev of the game and it was a great chat. You can check it here, but it is in spanish.
