Dick Tracy is a neat idea but has some pretty bad flaws. On the surface the game resembles T.N.M.T.... You've got an overworld map screen where you pick the nexxt stage and its full of hazards (SNIPERS!) which is what makes the game so tough. You can get out of your car to shoot at the snipers (fantastic idea) before moving on and its a real hassle. But, it seems the real trick to beating this game is to remember where these snipers are so as to be careful and slow down when approaching those routes.

The other half of the game is a side scrolling beat 'em up where you go to buildings to collect evidence or interrogate thugs until finding the right culprit. You can only use your pistol on other armed thugs or you lose health. Fighting in this game is actually not so hard until the end of the game when everyone seems to be armed. The main danger is snipers and... rats.

The adventure element here consists of following clues from one scene to another, until you finally find the culprit of a crime and solve the case and start a new one.

Following the clues is alright, but the snipers tend to make a game last not that long. The platform shooting is generic and you dont have much control over your aim and there are cheap tricks you will learn to make it further. Mr. Tracy is pretty slippery and has a tendency to fall off platforms or not complete jumps. Fortunately, there arent too many pit traps (beware of the pirers)

Average at best with some frustrations from the difficulty.
