Rating: 8.5/10

I enjoy both Dungeon Defenders games. They're an appealing mix of third-person shooter and tower defense, which means you place your defenses but if they can't handle them, then you can jump in and help by blasting. I never play with randoms, which I think would be frustrating, so I don't have to deal with that. My rating reflects that, because it's just more interesting playing with my brother.

They didn't really do much with the formula in the sequel. It's basically more of the same, down to some of the classes being the same. Now, with that said, the classes you can buy look really cool, even if they kind of function the same way. I don't mind that much because the balancing is good; you can play by yourself with anybody and do well. In fact, they've made it faster, added a few little nooks and crannies in there, but I haven't come across any glaring weaknesses in the way it's balanced.

Still, it's Dungeon Defenders. If you like the first one this is good, although there is some grinding to unlock classes if you want all of them. I'll never play the game enough to …

Still, it's Dungeon Defenders. If you like the first one this is good, although there is some grinding to unlock classes if you want all of them. I'll never play the game enough to want to master it with all of them, so I'm completely fine with just having the one I unlocked, along with the starting four.

There are some little issues, like the horrendous load times. They are seriously bad. You end a match and it takes way too long to get out, then there's a brief loading screen, then you're finally back in. I'm tolerant because in the grand scheme of things having to wait a minute or two is not the worst problem that games face, but some people are less so. It's not quite as bad as something like Skyrim was on PS3 because you don't deal with as many transitions.

So get it if you liked the first. Due to the free-to-play nature there's more grinding, but it's still a great tower defense game.
