Smashing Drive puts you in the driver's seat of an insane, outrageous taxi on the busy streets of New York City. Your job is to simply race from point to point in the fastest time possible. The key to success in Smashing Drive lies in two features: crazy power-ups and hidden shortcuts. Almost all of the power-ups transform your taxi in some way that allows you to smash your way through traffic with ease. And the shortcuts usually involve crashing through the insides of buildings, like movie theaters and sports arenas.

Shmadness

This over-the-top arcade racer where you SMASH a Taxi Cab across New York City is a loud, fast and destructive experience from start to finish. You race the CPU or a friend through timed checkpoints while you perform insane jumps, take dangerous short cuts and pick up power-ups and boosters along the way. I played the GameCube version and it flows and feels great, I don't think it was very advanced to begin with, so the console ports seem fine. The graphics are simple and Crazy Taxi-esque, but does the job, and the audio is insane and wakes you up. The music sounds like the devs made a few boyband songs for fun and put them in. I bet gamers who owned Smashing Drive have fond, fun memories of it being a well worth pick-up-and-play budget title, as well as pleasing cotton candy charged kids in the arcades.
