Rock Band 2 is the sequel to the 2007 musical simulation game Rock Band and offers similar gameplay. Directly competing with Guitar Hero: World Tour, the game allows different people to play together as in a band, with the same peripherals as the first game: lead guitar, bass guitar, microphone and a drum set. The new drum and guitar controllers for this version, bundled or sold separately, have been revised and older controllers are also supported. b_n's review of Rock Band 2

1001 Games - #865

Pros: wide variety of master tracks from different genres, fairer pitch recognition in vocals, excellent multiplayer experience, plenty of replay value learning each instrument

Cons: requires large amount of peripherals, many songs have uninteresting parts for at least one instrument, career mode adds little over free play

Recommendation: I think Rock Band 2 was the height of peripheral-based music gaming. Not only did the track list have something for nearly every music fan, they were all master recordings, so no subpar covers. If you can find a friend willing to dig their old instruments out of the closet, play this game.

This is the one I played the most. I loved all of the song variety and training on the various instruments.
