Umihara Kawase is a girl who uses a fishing hook as a grappling hook. You’ll need quick reflexes to swing your way through the branching surreal environments. Use your brains to figure out the best way through. They say fish is brain food—you’re going to need it!

Neat, Cute Game With Great Look and Sound
This review is for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System version

Preliminary: Wow I was really kinda burning out and contemplating a break with the project but immediately the nice tune, absurd background mixed with otherwise cutesy Look, utterly surreal concept of the game , and best of all, intuitive gameplay slowly figuring out the quirks of this fish hook rope situation with well-crafted introductory levels. I hope this sticks! I needed some good vibes tonight.

I am worried it might delve too deeply into the puzzle platformer vibe. Ahhh okay nevermind it really is just building on the techniques. And the way I was trying to go is to a mroe or less secret or warp type exit to a much later level. I'll just go with the normal exit to ease into the gameplay :-p

Day 1

Yessss not sure the connection but loving these pencils that area s large as you or larger. And this background continues to confuse me. And the music continues to shine. It really is amazing how much music affects my enjoyment of a game, as evident with the potential of Lunar vs this. enter image description here

It's a bit on the nose but I like how each level introduces a new mechanic (unless, again, you are like me and try to go to that warp type exit. Don't do that if you're new :-p ) and they show the little videos about new techniques as they introduce each level and very much use those techniques.

Ok so is this background just like a photo of a seashore thats uh black and white and very grainy and blown up too large? lol I love it enter image description here

I got particularly hooked around Fields 6/7. But of course it was time for movie/bed! Argh! Liking this tho! Doubt I will play all fields. Seems there are 49? So that is doable. But I would likely use one of the warps if I wantt o see the last level, or just play each level in order till the difficutly gets too high for me, as most games eventually get :-p

Day 2

Some delays in the controls and wonkiness come out as the levels get more action-y and intense and needing quick pressing, but it still feels fresh and fun and the music continues to help.

But I can feel myself starting to burn out with the controls and quirks of the rope/swinging aspects, so I'm thinking set 20 Fields as a good goal without burning out fully.

Welp after dying at the exit of Field 17 I figured it's time to call it. Cute game, becomes more and more tedious but till a quality platformer.

Look: 8/10

Sound: 8.5/10

Play: 7.5/10 Initial hook wears off but still well-done and neat idea.

Feel: 8/10

Attachment: 8/10

Overall: 8/10
