In the years since then, the runes have been scattered across the globe. Lemele, the son of Saro, was born 100 years ago, and became a hero when he defeated the demon Gariso. Now 100 years old, Lemele has become the benevolent and powerful ruler of the world. The 7th Saga is the localized version of the Super Famicom game Elnard. It is infamous for its high difficulty, whereas its Japanese counterpart is much easier. The 7th Saga also features some other changes, such as different character sprites. Read less

Missing A Hook, And Some Basic QoL Expectations For 1993

Preliminary: This has a bad rap but that seems to really be due to the localization's gameplay changes. I am playing a version that returns the gameplay mostly to the Japanese original's. And so far the music is good and the vibe so far reminds me of Phantasy Star

Ugh I can't justify in 93 that you have to go into a menu to search... why not just the default button? But otherwise I'm digging it so far.

Seriously... no way to buy more than one item at a time? If it weren't for the music I would definitely have dropped this by now. Lots of QoL stuff missing. At least the movement is fast tho.

Ugh I really should drop this. It just isn't well-balanced and isn't getting me hooked. Part of me wants to give it an honorary 3 star because I like the music and I like the Phantasy Star vibe (and that it's one-person party a la the first Dragon Quest) but I feel like I need to move on from that mindset. After all, I should expect a lot from 93 RPGs not to mention I just played FF5, which had such an addicting gameplay loop and endgame bosses...

Ugh but considering I played it for a while longer the next day, and part of me really wanted to continue but I managed to get myself to resist, says something.

Look: 8/10

Sound: 8/10

Play: 6.5/10 Just feels lackluster, tho I didn't hate it. Some basic QoL stuff missing for sure.

Feel: 7/10

Attachment: 7/10

Overall: 7.3/10

Completion: I had defeated Romus with the Whistle method and was grinding outside of the Cave of Earth

Playtime: ~1h 15m
