THIS IS YOUR LAST CHANCE... ...your last chance to experience the nauseating feeling of total rotation, speeding through the dark, twisting mines of Descent... your last chance to encounter the unique sensation on the system it was meant to be played on... your last chance to explore Descent worlds unavailable on any other system. It's time to get addicted to DESCENT MAXIMUM.

Avoid This

Unlike the fairly functional Playstation port of the first Descent game, Descent: Maximum is opportunistic hackwork. All exploration elements are gone: most levels have only a few tunnels, all of which lead straight to a goal of some variety, leaving precious few secrets to be found. A majority of the key areas consist of one room with a cluster a robots to blast through.

Hell, in the Ice Boss level (a dreaded enemy in Descent 2 proper), you can destroy the boss without him even seeing you through a grate because of the horrible level design.

I wasn't even able to force myself to complete this. I know that Descent 2 was a little too big for Playstation at the time, but that doesn't mean that I'm able to look past the awful level design. Not even worth a curiosity play.
