I don't wanna hear it, they took a great game and let pay-to-play suck-ups butcher it
With the exception of Quake 3 Arena, I was never very invested in the Quake franchise. Only recently I was able to play through Quake 1 & 2, and I didn’t even know that there was an expansion pack for Q3 or a Quake 4 for that matter! So it wasn’t much of a surprise when this flew under my radar when it first released, but, since it was on sale recently, I decided to finally try it.
The good news, it has a bigger player base than Q3A, and it even has servers from my country. The bad news, everybody is playing Clan Arena mode a.k.a. elimination mode with no pick-ups, no power-ups and all the guns accessible from the beginning, effectively deleting everything I liked about Q3A. The servers that do play different game modes are too far away from me for me to have a stable connection to.
Then there’s the obvious skill gap, everyone has been playing this for over a decade now and know every single trick and tech about it. They don’t rocket-jump; they rocket-fly through the map with perfect aim.
For some people, getting absolutely destroyed in a game serves as an invitation …

For some people, getting absolutely destroyed in a game serves as an invitation for them to get better and polish their skill. I’m not those people. Refunded.
