Meta-games is an interesting niche, which implements fourth wall breaking as an emphasized feature and by the dev's creativity can shape the game's unpredictable nature. Where Break The Game comes in, it puts you in the role of controlling a moving, talking block called Kevin, to help him on his journey to break out of this game. You come across many different characters, each with their own distinguishable personality.
As much as it's mainly a platformer action game, gameplay-wise, don't expect relentless action in here because the frequent, lengthy cutscenes makes it more story-focused to a fault. And it's a pity that there's more than a few lengthy cutscenes that revolve around silly events that have little-to-nothing to do with the actual plot development. Having to sit and do nothing while the dialogue texts slowly unfold after each other gets boring; I wouldn't have minded if there was voice acting to make things sufficiently more entertaining. Maybe in the next game, hopefully...!
Between the scenes that occur, hold low expectations for the level builds because they are mainly made of blocks and scarce with decorations, which get plain in high quantity. There are enemies scattered about but none too overwhelming …

Between the scenes that occur, hold low expectations for the level builds because they are mainly made of blocks and scarce with decorations, which get plain in high quantity. There are enemies scattered about but none too overwhelming to tamper with the game flow. Varieties of guns gives you more freedom in how you approach the shooting scenes but I tend to stick to the machine gun and shotgun.
I felt underwhelmed with the game overall, especially considering the direction it intended with the meta perspective at its core. With a well-written cast of characters and a plot focusing on the protagonist's escapade from a program housing him, this game could have reached its potential more if it cut down the fat of silliness to a moderate amount, brought up the pacing and possibly adopted voice acting for more immersion. I suggest that you try out the free prequel Escape The Game and see if this is your cup of tea.
