Main game
Reviews are in and they are not great. Steam comments suggest that the game was changed from the demo we got some time ago and that the shotting is now less connected to the music and more metronome based.
It's a shame, though :(
Wow this is absolutely horrible. The music is not to my taste but not terribly bad, but everything about the gameplay is obnoxious.
The sound of the guns is too loud and overshadows the music to the point that I couldn't hear the rhythm. Matching the beat feel somewhat wrong and there's no calibration setting. I feel that even in the gameplay reveal you can hear how the song doesn't really match the gun beats.
The game forces you to shoot or make some action in a very specific pattern and you actually loose if you miss too many beats, which is not conducive to good flow. You are forced to look intently at the center of the screen to click at the right moment instead of feeling the music while navigating the space, aiming at the enemies and strategizing. The game knows this and by default it basically turns on absolute auto-aim.
The upshot is that this is not an FPS in which you shoot with the music. It is a music game that has an FPS as an incidental decoration.
