Time to Time, I go back and play this one.
It's a pretty intense and long game divided by several distinctly differently themed open world areas. They all have their different enemeies, mission structure, weapons and vehicles. It almost feels like an Action-RPG in the way the open world areas feel, and offers quite a bit of freedom.
This game hasn't aged well and most of the ideas and aspects of gameplay have been refined many degrees.. While I'm not sure which was being developed first it. it would seem to draw some inspiration from Blast Corps and but it indeed plays like a source of inspiration for games like Grand Theft Auto and The Witcher (the game is actually made one year later than Grand theft Auto and the origindal developer of the game.) Nintendo apparently didnt like this game (i am guessing it's because it's a bit adult in tone, has some blood (look at my screenshot, lol) it shares the same 'killing all the humans theme' as the other DMA design title Robotron 64.
Despite it's datedness, Body Harvest provides the player with a kind of atmosphere and engagement that I find is hard to pull off …

Despite it's datedness, Body Harvest provides the player with a kind of atmosphere and engagement that I find is hard to pull off on the system it was released on, it therefore is one of my favorite N64 titles. For an early release it's quite impressive. Overall it's got decent gameplay and good consideration to the game elements, however there are a few 'gotchas' here and there. It's main flaw is that the missions are just way too long in how they are chunked. However that's no problem on an emulator...
