giopep's review of DC Super Hero Girls: Teen Power
This review is for the Nintendo Switch version

My 6 years old daughter is a huge fan of the TV show and the comicbooks based on that style... And I'm a fan too: they are smart, funny and stylish. So we had to try the game. I let her play it while I was couch coaching and giving the occasional hand when things became too tough (like in fase three of the final boss) and we had lots of fun. She is a bit too young for it and it was also her first full 3D kinda free roaming game, so she had a lot too learn and the first few hours were frustrating. Plus, she doesn't like the stress of the more actioney parts (we had a similar problem with Kirby: Star Allies). It was fascinating to watch her learn how to manage the camera with the right stick and, in fact, before that, she had to learn what that meant and why she needed to do it. And overall, it was fun to see her grow in confidence, slowly getting more comfortable with the action stuff and becoming mostly independent and able to play it without much input from myself. And overall, it was fun to see her grow in confidence, slowly getting more comfortable with the action stuff and becoming mostly independent and able to play it without much input from myself. By the end, she actually got really close to crushing the final boss before giving up and that's something she could never have done when she started playing this.

Overall, I think it's a well made game. Deep and engaging enough for a kid, with lots of stuff to do and a good use of the license: all the important characters from the TV show are playable or at least present and, sure, the writing is not as funny and smart as the best episodes from the show but it does its job. My daughter loved the experience and right now she's into endgame stuff.
