One of the first titles released for the Switch and with Nintendo's next console somewhere on the 2024 horizon, I decided to play this hilarious, fun, and frustrating puzzle game.

The version I played was Snipperclips Plus, which includes all additional content. While playing solo is an option, the gameplay is best enjoyed with a friend. There are 75 levels included in the campaign and additional bonus modes to goof around in. The puzzles are fun, some much more difficult than others, and vary in hilarity depending on how well you cooperate with Player Two and how ridiculous your solution to the puzzle is. I do wish there was more variety in the levels and some of them are extremely frustrating to solve.

This is a great option for couch co-op with enough content to keep you entertained for multiple gaming sessions.

Good Ol' Family Fun

I enjoy Snipperclips! It's really fun and sometimes slightly infuriating. Slightly infuriating because the level of accuracy that sometimes occurs is not consistent and that can be frustrating. One thing I absolutely do not recommend is playing this game under any sort of influence (drugs or alcohol); you and your partner will just get very mad, speaking from experience.

When I saw Snipperclips in action it went from being a game I thought sounded dumb to being my potential sleeper hit for the Switch. I was right; this is a great puzzle game.

Basically you are a piece of paper and you cut your friends up to make shapes in order to solve the puzzles. These can be getting fish in a tank, or just cutting yourselves so you match a shape, or something more complex like guiding a girl to get gems. I'm terrible at puzzle games but this one appeals to me because of the variety in how you tackle it. You could cut intricate designs and use finesse and careful planning... or you could brute force it, which leads to some laughs. The point is, it's not a puzzle game with one method, and that's refreshing.

Snipperclips just has a lot of character for an art style that isn't very complicated. It's wonderfully simplistic and creative, a perfect game for a Nintendo system in that regard. The dinky music helps. Your paper has adorable faces which actually leads to more enjoyment than you might think; I'm not afraid to admit I laughed a bunch of times at it as my brother and I did creepy things to each other (in the game, not in real life, sicko!).

I think the only real dig I have is that I find myself only wanting to play it in short bursts. That's probably on me more than anything, so I'm not really deducting any from the score.

Also, in my experience making a scoop is king. Unfortunately this has lead to my brother and I going SCOOP LIIIIFE way too much. We also like to dunk things.
