I really was looking forward to this one. The original Cursed was amazing, loved the bizarre body horror art, really tough but clever puzzles, and just the complete oddity of it all.
I was warned the first was quite janky, but honestly - this one is so much worse. I think it’s largely due to the scope and the combat. The first one was simple, just a classic Macventure style adventure game. Solving puzzles and dungeon crawling, with the odd mini game.
In this one, you have nearly constant combat that is absolutely unplayable. You have an open world with way too many items to pickup, many of which are just clutter and not actually used in the game. You have an RPG leveling system, and inventory to manage, an item drop system, a really confusing driving mini game for travel… it’s doing way too much and doing it poorly.
I get that some may say git gud, and view this as an odd cult classic relic type game. I can understand that, because that’s how I view the first one. But this one is just unplayable to me, and it lacks the simplicity and charm that the first one …

Hopefully Cursed 3 will scratch that itch, either by reeling it in and getting back to basics, or better execution of the ideas in 2.
