Planet of the Apes (2001)

Bought in a Russian market about 2 decades ago, my PC back then wasn't up to graphics card requirements, which resulted in a texture-less show of white apes moving and whacking each other. Fastforward to today and I took upon myself to clean up my shelf of retail discs that had yet to been cleared off the backlog.

I haven't actually watched any of the Planet of the Apes fully but I understand that this game is based on the original film with Heston. Sadly, this game hasn't aged well in many ways. I've only played this for about an half hour to see the issues that hamper my enjoyment and would require my patience to get through the whole thing.

I could only run the game on compatibility mode (with 640x480 resolution, fair enough) and this game's controls was only keyboard-based. Hence, the camera followed only where my character was turning to and, boy, couldn't I change the settings for how fast he could do it. The issue with that is that, since it's got stealth elements, I would need a good margin of time to turn to the right direction to intercept my enemies if I get detected. There's a plethora of combat issues that follows (I did better fighting with bare fists than with melee weapons) and it takes some trials-and-errors to get the hang of the level you're getting through.

I could bite the bullet and stick with it longer to hopefully see to the end or most of the game, but with many other games worth playing through, I'd rather consider watching the original movie instead.
