Rising Thunder is a free-to-play fighting game that uses simplified controls in contrast to most 2D Fighting Games which utilize motion or charge commands. This is to make the game more accessible while still being deep and balanced, being capable of standing up to years of high level competitive play. There are eight buttons in total which consist of three normals, three specials, an Overdrive/Super, and a throw. Each character has a listed fighting style and level of difficulty.

Rising Thunder! *in the voice of an attack move*

For those of you who don't know, Rising Thunder is a new game that is suppose to change the face of competitive fighting games. The idea is that you reduce the execution wall down to simple button presses. I've been playing it online for awhile now and I think I've done something like 100 matches so far. It is lots of fun. There are only 5 characters right now but they each have different moves you can equip, so it keeps things pretty interesting.

After about an hour of gameplay, most players should be able to play on a higher level fighting. You get used to your moves, your range, what you can do, and you begin stringing together attacks just like combos. Each of the characters plays very differently. I'd have to say right now my favorites are Chel (Long range high attack high defense, low health) and Talos (Grappling, High Defense). Its still in technical alpha right now, but its going to be free to play so you should give it a try if you are interested in fighting games. The learning curve is very low.
