Preliminary: Like the first time I playtested it, I absolutely love the sound and look. I'm loving the syncopated rhythm of this intro screen and the stylization of the characters.
Pro-tip: to jump higher (I thought I was stuck in a glitch lol) press up while jumping.
Day 1
I'm liking the Sound and theme and Look and absurdity of it all, but the difficulty is definitely rising as I think I get to the 3rd stage? I dunno, the level after the garages? Haha. The mediocre-for-arcade collision masks are starting to take their toll for sure. And some real sloppy parts with these platforms moving up and down sometimes catching me illogically etc. That being said, it's not getting to the un-fun type of difficulty (tho death by gunfire is brutal, it makes sense heh, and I have infinite coins soooo) ... yet at least. And I'm loving these between-stage screens especially the music during them
Sheesh that flamethrower boss was so hard!
Day 2
Welp, turns out I was super close to the end of the game. That final boss was just ridiculous. Good thing I checked and saw he was the final boss, otherwise I would have …

Day 2
Welp, turns out I was super close to the end of the game. That final boss was just ridiculous. Good thing I checked and saw he was the final boss, otherwise I would have dropped the game. And then I saw the cute ending sequence and heard the nice ending music and credits music. :)
Look: 8/10 Great Look. It's to be expected with arcade games, but I like the theme and between-stage screens particularly.
Sound: 8.5/10 Definitely one of the highlights. Never wanted to mute it.
Play: 7.5/10 I will never be a big Brawler guy and not a big fan of shmups that are the run n gun Contra style. They always devolve into ridiculously difficult onslaughts of enemies instead of making for clever and fun level designs. Sure enough this one got there, but I do think it'll continue to be a fun 2-player arcade machine at my parents' place. Plus, it has a lot of shooter-platformer elements that didn't make it feel just like a brawler/run n gun.
Feel: 8/10 I like that I have access to this on an arcade machine and its overall vibe is just very much so 1989 haha. Too bad it gets so difficul
Attachment: 8/10 How often will I actually play through to the end? Not often (tho infinite coins helps with that... and this was a blatant coin eater since you can just start right from where you were, not even at the beginning of the level, tho perhaps was a checkpoint system and I only died on the bosses/special sequences... not sure) but I will definitely play this with family even if just the first few stages with our infinite coins :-p
Overall: 8/10
Completion: Main Story
This is so good! I mean, it's really just another brawler in many ways but I like that it's emphatically and perpetually a shooter as well (u don't just get a gun as a powerup, the handgun is your default). Even some variations of shooter gameplay. And I love the highway segment, the graphics, the sound. All around good stuff. We have family here so I only played through a few bosses but I'll definitely be returning to this, possibly with a 2nd player or on MAME at home, but glad it's on the Arcade Legends machine.
