Once I switched to "arcade" controls (gamepad) and remapped inputs, this game felt great. I like the feel: the inertia physics, the dodging with i-frames, the way rockets pack a punch and how the boost feels like nitro in NSF games. And the small details, like how your jet lifts the water if you fly too close, and how enemies crash if you outmaneuver them at low altitude.
There's a variety of enemies, a campaign with "new game+" mode that adds even more new enemy behaviors, an arcade mode with upgrade deck draft for replayability.
The only small gripe I have with this game is that in the campaign, the dash upgrade is very strong and looks like levels 30+ of the campaign were designed for that ability. I wanted to keep using dodge roll instead and it made those levels frustrating, until I re-equipped the most effective build.
I like this. Looper-ish with cool inertia effects. You zoom around from a side view doing mission objectives.
