Devil Girl has an actually interesting story with good art

Story:
This is an adult H visual novel so my expectations for the story were pretty low. However, it was a nice surprise that the story actually managed to intrigue me. While in the beginning it seems like this is a cliche case of "pretty girl appears out of nowhere for the sake of the protagonist" there's actually a lot more going on behind the scenes. There's plenty of mystery and dark eerie moments that make you go like "oh shit".

You often have multiple choices such as choosing a dialogue line, which locations to visit next, whether to work all day or go home early, etc. There are multiple endings: There's 3 "good" endings and a ton of bad endings (so save pretty often since once you get an ending you end up back at the main screen).

Every single line from the 2 main characters, Nethia and Ophelia (the girls in the game cover art), are voiced in Japanese. The voice actors were pretty decent and I like how Nethia talks in an old archaic way that reminds me of Shinobu from the Monogatari anime series. The protagonist and the other minor characters are not voiced but I …

Every single line from the 2 main characters, Nethia and Ophelia (the girls in the game cover art), are voiced in Japanese. The voice actors were pretty decent and I like how Nethia talks in an old archaic way that reminds me of Shinobu from the Monogatari anime series. The protagonist and the other minor characters are not voiced but I think that's OK since you barely talk to the minor characters.

Art:
There are plenty of different H scenes so no complain when it comes to quantity and variety. The art quality is pretty good actually. It's not the best but most of it is pretty well drawn and painted. You can buy different outfits and items for Nethia and each unlocks at least one new H-scene. The one downside i would say is that the game doesn't have animations; it's all still images that change to show different facial expressions.

Other:
Music was pretty decent. While it sounds like it's just indie-level MIDI tracks, I actually really liked some of the BGM.

The UI was decent too, not many complains there aside from not being able to scroll up to see the previous lines of dialogue like in some other VNs. But you do have a lot of save slots so you can easily save the game at any time and then load a previous save point to replay dialogue or explore a different dialogue option.

There's also an option in the main menu called "Memory" which allows you to replay the major story scenes as well as the H scenes at any moment. In the beginning the Memories section is empty but you unlock them as you experience them in the game. However, you can also immediately unlock all the memories by going to the game Settings and enabling "CG Open". If you disable "CG Open" the Memories section goes back to displaying only the scenes you have experienced in the game.
