Will Revist Genesis Port and maybe two player with a proper trackball
This review is for the Arcade version

This is a nice looking and sounding multi directional shooter. You can control the game using a mouse if you set it up as such but its clearly meant to use a rotating joystick (dial) to literally swing your rifle from side to side, 'fanning' your fire as you move the player character with a joystick.

The sound is really good with digitized voice and it has a nice metal slug type look. I just ordered a trackball with a dial to play games like this and experience them more properly.

The game is very short (about 30 mins) and has a VERY generic ramboish type premise: some soldiers bust you out of a POW camp and you run and gun your way to the choppa to escape. along the way you try to pick up what appear to be tumbling .50 BMG cartridges that spill out of fallen foes. unfortunately as you upgrade your Shooter it seems enemy reinforcements also become upgraded, as the viet cong become Russian special forces, armed with kevlar vests and bazookas and spawn heavily. Also enemies respawn as soon as you leave an edge so you cannot clear maps or retreat and are constantly trying to push forward.

This game is clearly designed to killsteal you and your quarters licketysplit but compared to other games you could at least complete it due to its relatively short play time.

I'll play it again but that's enough of a review. With proper controls its probably a 4 star game but with a mouse its just kinda mediocre and generic. I would still recommend it to anyone who spots a 'multi-cabinet' (or original) out in the wild and this one will probably be loaded in it cause its small and the game is short.
