This game was intended as a creative educational exercise for children. It was based off of the popular Smurf T.V. series in the 1980s, and included many of the most popular characters. Players would use the ColecoVision's classic controllers to paint various creations.

Absolutely brilliant idea. At first I thought you simply decorate static backgrounds, but as per usual--with the many buttons of the ColecoVision--you can do so much. Best of all, you can explore your created scenes, more like recreating an episode of Smurfs than just painting an image like I expected. Really honestly so impressive. Why the score then? Despite the amazing look, surprisingly good sound, and quality concept, I just don't see myself playing through it much. I've always found Intellivision and ColecoVision's obsession with convoluted controls off-putting. If I had played this when young with a sibling or someone else for the 2 player mode, to create scenes for each other to explore, this would be an easy 4 or 5 star. Nickelodeon 3D Movie Maker is so important to me, and this is basically the first of its kind that I have come across so far. But as it is, very interesting idea, one I may return to, but most likely just moving on. If you do check it out, the manual will help a bunch. And videos like this give you an idea of what to expect
