Snoopy uses portals in this game

Recreation of Snoopy's in-game sprite with the Super Game Boy palette applied

Simple, surprisingly action-packed puzzles with adorable little Peanuts sprites. The monochrome visuals are quite readable on a small screen, and the time limit and non-scrolling levels lend themselves to short bursts of play. (I played on a Miyoo Mini, where my average play session time was only 43 seconds.)

Some stages are only beatable through trial and error, and I couldn't sustain interest past the "game clear" screen (at which point puzzles repeat with added difficulty). But this exceeded my (admittedly low) expectations.

Cute Surprise, Quite Good For An Action-Puzzler!
This review is for the Game Boy version

Preliminary: Wow 1990 Gameboy just keeps impressing me. I thought this was just going to be a passable action-puzzle game, not usually my genre, with slow controls and whatnot. Tho you do walk quite slowly, it is quite expansive, eases you in, and has a straightforward action feel more than a puzzle feel. The music is good too. However, there are, what, 120 levels? I am already on level 5 but still, that's not a good sign. As long as I give it a good long play session though, still might be worth a 3 star! Which says something cuz puzzle games aren't my thing, plus it has the GB limitations (which somehow keep still producing good games!)

Ok yea on stage 10 the waiting elements (which of course ties to the puzzle vibe more than the action vibe) and the slow movement compared to the fast "bad guys" (balls) was starting to get frustrating/tacky feeling. But here I am, still playing on Stage 15. No matter what it deserves a 3 star. Whether it's worth playing to uh 120 stages, or even like 60 stages, and possible 4 star, remains to be seen.

Day 1

That music tho <3 And how fast the [early] levels are <3 And I like that the game patiently waits for you to indicate you're ready to start the next stage, seems very well-suited for portable/gameboy gaming.

Day 2

Yeahhhh the waiting elements and slow movement are in fact getting real old in Stage 20 and on. Well, they already did 14ish too but I've been pushing through. Especially tacky were the ones where you just have to wait for a block to reappear so you can make it through an arrow tile.

enter image description here It was at this point of Stage 28 that I decided I'd be done. Very impressive puzzle game that kept me hooked for longer than expected, and it being portable/GB adds to that. Definitely play this if you like action-puzzle games!

Look: 7.5/10 Nothing spectacular, but neat enough and GB-nostalgic.

Sound: 8.5/10 Definitely a highlight. Nice variety and very good for a GB game.

Play: 7.5/10 Action-puzzle games will never be a favorite of mine, but this got me as hooked as the best action-puzzlers have!

Feel: 8/10 Neat that this was a portable GB game.

Attachment: 7.5/10 If I return to retro action-puzzlers, this likely would make the cut. And as much as I wanna give a boost to the rating because a) I was surprised by it, and b) it's portable/GB, the reality is I don't have a drive for action-puzzlers almost ever.

Overall: 7.8/10

Completion: Partway through Stage 28

Playtime: ~30 mins

Childhood Magic
This review is for the Game Boy version

I just YouTube'd this and a jolt of nostalgia ruptured my core. I remember running around listening to the opening tune a lot, and also playing the game a lot. It's a puzzler that reminds me of Adventures of Lolo or what have you. There's 120 puzzles and it does get harder and harder, which makes this fun and easy to pick up for any family member. This is a lost little Game Boy gem that still holds up in my opinion. Oh man, I miss 1990.
