The search evolves into a deeper investigation of The World and its effects on the stability of the Internet. Less

Incredibly repetitive, but engaging
This review is for the PlayStation 2 version

I played this back when it first came out on the PS2 and quickly dropped it, despite being a big fan of the .hack//SIGN show back in the day. Revisiting it today was a lot more fun than I thought it would be and I was pleasantly surprised. I wouldn't call it a great game, but I got oddly addicted to it. The story is compelling and the game balances the virtual world with checking your Email, the news, etc. The ending was lackluster, but it's definitely a tease to get you to immediately play MUTATION, which is next on my list.

Definitely a Game Of Concept and Feel, Not Gameplay
This review is for the PlayStation 2 version

Not doing a proper review as I spread the experience out too far to feel like I can accurately review it, but if I was being objective I'd probably give it a 7/10 with a subjective 8/10 based largely on the anime hooking me in and knowing what is to come.

Has anyone tried playing their backlog in alphabetical order? It sounds nice in theory but committing to one game can be brutal. How about in groups of 3's?

My 1st 3 games to play would be( while skipping anything I don't intend to play): .Hack Infection, Atom RPG, and Achtung!:Cthulhu Tactics.

Should I do it? Should I not? How do you decide what to play next? How do you stay dedicated to finishing a game?

I've started this game multiple times over the past decade, but tonight I finally finished a playthrough! Even finished up the bonus boss and some extra dungeons. Now I just need to watch the bonus DVD and read the first book before I start Mutation.

creepy hands dungeon

While I'm very much enjoying it, there's certainly plenty that could be criticized about this game. The weird and varied designs are not one of those things though. Plenty of macabre and just plain weird imagery, like this entrance to a dungeon. (While this is obviously a still image, in the game the hands are constantly writhing.)

Took a gamble and picked up a backwards compatible PS3. Decided to try it out by finally starting my journey through the .hack quadrilogy, playing a few hours of Infection last night. Absolutely love what this game tried to do, recreating the MMO game type as a single player experience.
