Preliminary: Hmmm from what I'm reading and seeing this seems a lottttt like Konami's Goonies II NES game. Which is not a bad thing ha. Luckily there's a fan translation of the original Japanese game, so it's worth a shot! Even if I have no connection with the manga/anime (I do need to see Castle of Cagliostro tho...), and the sprites look odd, I do love that action-adventure platformer genre! It seems to be all the rave in 1987, even Zelda switched to it ha. Tho it's one of my all-time favorite genres, and I was worried the chronology project would only reaffirm my preexisting preferences/preferred genres, maybe even I will tire of this genre, especially as copycats and not-first-to-do-x-y-and-z type games keep spilling out. This is an unlicensed game after all... and that Esper game I just played was quite terrible... (says the guy who played it for almost 2 hours lol).
Great opening song so that's good. And yet the gameplay ended up quite terrible. I know people would say "what else do you expect from an unlicensed 1987 NES game," but tbh, I have quite high expectations (personally) for NES games. And this was disappointing for sure.
